COLLABORATION FEATURING:

MAKEUP: SCHAUMIN ALEXANDER, @THEJAMERICANBEAUTY

PHOTOGRAPHY: DELANE ASHLEY PHOTOGRAPHY / EDITING: QUIET LION

SELECT CLOTHING: GENERATION BLISS BOUTIQUE

Mimicking the melancholy melody of a Poe poem and channeling the gypsy spirit of my fav witch Stevie Nicks, the mood this Halloween is all about spooky-chic glam.  Lace mimics the intricacies of any spider’s web, while chartreuse satin and candy apple red pop against marble mausoleums and weathered stone. A longline cape brings in Drac vibes, while a black floppy hat is a MUST, if you ask me, for any bohemian ensemble.

Let’s talk accessories. Trending charm and coin jewelry, featuring dainty layers stacked for a semi haute-mess vibe, is fitting here with the addition of a golden serpent and spliced moon pendant. If you’re curious, check out my tutorial here to make your very own version. Which charms will you choose? Mix large and small scale charms for the most variety – look on Etsy for a great selection of vintage charms! For a slightly chunkier piece, try using knotted chain tassels in your DIYs – yes, knotted- like you see below on my Pentagram Pendant necklace. Simply knot chain and hold the knot together with more jump rings. Then, connect this “tassel” to the bottom of a large pendant or gemstone link for an edgy update to the traditional tassel look.

Following suit with more layered goodness, mix and match rings are always a yes. Choose styles similar in design, but vary the shape and scale to get that bohemian-chic look. My simple stacking bands from CosmoStyle Jewelry, and my larger stone rings from Laura Janelle.

To contrast against all this daintiness going on, a featured statement necklace was a must. I resurrected my Camilla Necklace for this shoot, because sometimes you just don’t want to fuss with tangling layers of chain, amirite!?

#DIY celestial sunnies are just what you need to block out any Halloween haters. Blind them with sparkle. You can buy cheap sunglasses at any Goodwill or thrift store and use GemTac or E6000 to decorate with a mix of crystal flatbacks, stones other cabochon decorations. I’ve added rhinestone chain dangles to be even more extra.

Many thanks to @TheJamericanBeauty for creating this makeup lewk featuring metallic ombre eyes and golden lips. The lord knows I have no idea how to Makeup, so lucky that Schaumin can work her magick ?

And finally, thanks as always to Delane for putting up with my ever-creepy graveyard locales ….
