It’s PISCES SEASON fishes ♓?, and I’m channeling all our mystic mermaid vibes with my new Spring collection of shell jewelry. I have always loved chainmaille, and thought it would be the perfect compliment to seashells for an unexpected mix of edgy and feminine.
The lacy look of the 4 in 1 weave totally fit the bill – if you’re a beginner at chainmaille, I suggest learning this weave first. It’s super simple! Youtube has a lot of great tutorials, and is how I first learned as well.
The Byzantine weave is another fav – I used it in the golden lariat below in the post. It’s almost rope-like, with a scalloped look that mimics the shape of shells. A touch more difficult to learn than the 4 in 1, but still totally doable for beginners.
Freshwater pearls were a must as well – literally (along with shells of course) the most trendy thing rn in the jewelry/accessory world. Playing off the mismatched earring trend (which I admit I at first was not a fan of) seemed fitting with shells- they are naturally mismatched anyway! We are also all about the layered look, as usual, so dainty and chunky chains made an appearance in varying lengths….. Combining contrasting necklace styles as well is something I’m loving atm – like mixing a chunky necklace with a super dainty chain choker. The play in scale is definitely a modern take on bohemian style!
Check out the lookbook video at the bottom of the post as well, and if you don’t live at a beachy destination, sorry for the FOMO. It might be snowing or super cold by you because it’s February – but we’re chillin at the ocean, as mermaids do…..
Special thanks to boho beach babe Nadya and makeup magician Schaumin for this perfectly Pisces collab!
