F*ck meek “wallflower” vibes and BLOOM brightly – all day, every day! Tearsa knows what’s up as she SHINES in my newest handmade jewels! Sweet meets savage with a blend of rhinestone hearts, heavy-metal chainmaille, lux shells, layering necklaces, posh pearls and just about everything in between….. Speaking of shells, continuing in the spirit of my Pisces post, these natural beauties are back – back in black, that is. Giving them a coat of matte black spraypaint and sealing with lacquer is what goth dreams are made of. Add sparkly rhinestones and dripping cup chain to the mix and that’s a recipe for some serious statement accessories!
Taking inspiration from the fashion great, Chanel, a clear resin drop earring looks as if it’s a splash suspended in time. I was excited to shoot this one backlit, for that characteristic “glow” transparent acrylic or resin has. More of this material is on the horizon….
The last outfit is fit for any Oscar Red Carpet, if you ask me…. Adding hair rings to her fauxhawk upped the edgy factor to the perfect level. I made them super quick out of aluminum jewelry making wire – wrapping it around a Sharpie and cutting loops with wire cutters. Aluminum is super easy to bend so it’s a great material for these rings. This would be the perfect thing to make for summer music festivals, and they can be re-used! Clip into braids, ponies, updos and more…. Check out my tutorial for these on my DIY Hair Rings blog post here!
Now, let’s talk about this scenery; high drama meets a high-fashion mood with the help of this amazing shoot location, the Safety Harbor Arts and Music Center. This perfectly quirky-chic locale helped lend a lot of character to these shots. A zebra-print couch? We say yes, please. That mirror mosaic wall? Insane. Life-size birdcage? Love it.
As always, special thanks to my crew – Tearsa for being a killer muse and Schaumin for her makeup magic.
